Informative Social Media Posts-Accessibility Project

This project was focused on accessibility in design. We designed a series of informative Instagram posts about any topic of our choosing. The posts had to have a clear design system and be type-centric. The posts were made in Photoshop, and then we ran color blindness tests to see if they were accessible. This project was supposed to be out of our comfort zone, so I chose a color palette and typefaces I wouldn't normally choose.

I learned about accessibility in design during this module. This is something I had never really given much thought to in the past. It was very enlightening to run the color blindness tests and to see how the colors and contrast can drastically change when looking through that filter. It is important to be inclusive in all areas of design so that anyone can view and understand your work. I chose backgrounds and text that would have a lot of contrast even with the color blindness filters.
Over the course of the semester, I have learned more about typography. Typography choices are so important, and now I am more intentional about the choices I make. Hierarchy is something that has stuck out to me. I used the different design principles to add to the hierarchy of my designs in this project. I have also learned more about the Adobe programs. During this project, I discovered new features in Photoshop that were very helpful!
